How To Transfer GOTV/DSTV Subscription From a Damaged Decoder To Another

Your Gotv or Dstv decoder can suddenly stop working, get damaged, or even be stolen; how then do you ensure your subscription does not go to waste? Imagine the Gotv or Dstv in your living room gets bad while having a subscription on it, so to avoid wastage, you want to transfer its existing subscription to another decoder within your household or somewhere else with no subscription?

Well, if you find yourself in such a situation, there is a way out. What you need to do is transfer that subscription from the damaged decoder to another one. In this article, we shall inform you how to do the transfer. Bear in mind that to do this, you must furnish yourself with all the information needed for the change to be effected.

Procedure for the Transfer

To effect a Gotv or Dstv subscription transfer, you have to send MultiChoice, the parent company of Gotv and Dstv, an email to their customer care service with the following details:

- The IUC number of the Gotv or Dstv decoder that got damaged, with the name and phone number registered to it.

- The IUC number of the Gotv or Dstv decoder you want to transfer the subscription to, with the name and phone number registered to it.

- The amount and subscription plan subscribed on the bad or stolen decoder.

- Date of subscription

- Evidence of payment of subscription, with reference number. For example, a debit SMS alert, payment voucher, or receipt screenshot of the mobile transaction

A valid means of identification, like your international passport, driver's license, national identity card, or permanent voter's card

If armed with the information above, send an email to the following address for Gotv users: GotvNigeria@multichoice.co.za.
For Dstv, send an email to DstvNigeria@multichoice.co.za.

The contents of the email should state that you want to do a subscription transfer with all the information mentioned above, attaching screenshots or images where necessary. I.e., transaction details and a valid I.D. card.

You will get a reply to the email, and the transfer should be done within 1 to 3 days. However, if they fail to effect the change, do well to send a reminder mail.
